With certain exceptions (see note below), public or private universities, colleges, and other postsecondary education facilities (including technical schools and community colleges) may prohibit the carrying of concealed weapons by licensees on their properties. See Ky. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 237.115(1)
In April 2012, the Kentucky Supreme Court handed down a decision in Mitchell v. University of Kentucky, et al. stating that the statute in question forbids a public organization, such as a university, from prohibiting the possession of a firearm in the glove compartment of a vehicle.
