Laws Concerning Carrying Concealed Firearms on Campus in Kansas

In 2013, Governor Brownback signed into law legislation that creates a provision where colleges and universities cannot prohibit concealed carry unless a building has “adequate security measures,” however, governing boards of the institutions may still request an exemption to prohibit concealed weapons for up to 4 years.   This law will be implemented in 2017.

As of October 1, 2016, no colleges and universities have changed their weapons policy and therefore concealed weapons are still prohibited on campus.
